Superyacht ‘Air’ is one of the many superyachts to have visited the West Cork coast in recent years, and now the Port of Cork is promoting Bantry Bay as a destination for superyacht visitors coming for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor, Limerick.

Benefits from the upcoming Ryder Cup are set to extend to West Cork with Bantry promoting itself as a premium superyacht destination.

Representatives of the Port of Cork company attended the annual Seatrade Cruise Global event in Miami last week, where they publicised Bantry Bay as an ideal maritime arrival point for superyachts visiting Ireland for premium events, such as the Ryder Cup.

The widely-renowned golfing event is set to take place at Adare Manor in Limerick in September of next year.

At the tradeshow, PoCC representatives highlighted how Bantry Bay is only 25 minutes by helicopter from Adare Manor, with coastal views along the way for visitors to enjoy.

A part of Cork’s seafaring heritage, Bantry Bay, framed by the Caha Mountains and Sheep’s Head peninsula, allows for stable, deep-water anchorage, accommodating superyachts of any size without restrictions.

Premium experiences

Commercial manager at Port of Cork, David Browne, said Bantry is Ireland’s “Wild Atlantic secret and perfect superyacht anchorage for golf enthusiasts seeking unique maritime accommodation and premium offshore experiences”.

“You can drop anchor in the sanctuary of the bay and go from your deck to the fairway in Adare Manor in Limerick in under 30 minutes by air,” said Mr Browne.

“The 25-berth marina is located in close vicinity to the town centre and an airfield, to facilitate private transfer by executive helicopter.”

Head of Visit Cork Seamus Heaney said premium events such as the Ryder Cup promise a transformative boost to Munster’s regional tourism, channeling visitors from Adare to places like Bantry Bay and beyond.

“Visitors who wish to sample West Cork’s Wild Atlantic Way and Cork’s vibrant hospitality, can easily extend their stay along the coast,” said Mr Heaney.

Especially in the summer months, superyachts are a regular sight along the West Cork coast.
