Cork-based establishments were among the winners at the 12th annual Just Eat Awards.

For the second year running, Izz Café won the middle eastern accolade, an award which recognises restaurants delivering authentic, flavour rich dishes inspired by Middle Eastern cuisine.

The family-run Palestinian restaurant has built a strong following in Cork and beyond.

Lennox's of MacCurtain Street was crowned Best Chipper, an award recognising standout fish and chip takeaways delivering quality, consistency and customer favourites nationwide.

Sano Pizza, which has locations in Dublin and Cork, received the highest number of public votes both in its individual category (best pizza) and also overall.

Category winners were selected from a shortlist of over 105 nominees.

This year’s winners ranged from local, independent food spots to national restaurant brands and were announced at a lunch event held in Fallon and Byrne in Dublin city.

Amanda Roche-Kelly, managing director of Just Eat Ireland said:  “Ireland’s food scene continues to grow in quality, flavour and variety.

“The Just Eat Awards are a fantastic opportunity to recognise the local businesses that people genuinely love ordering from."
