Cork GAA club says a big 'thank you' after steps challenge

The Douglas club has taken the top spot in the Munster challenge, and is in with a chance of winning €2,500.

Douglas GAA Club would like to say well done to everyone who participated in their club walks over the last few weeks as part of the Healthy Club Steps Challenge.

They have taken top spot in the Munster challenge, and are in with a chance of winning €2,500.

A club spokesperson said they would like to say a huge thanks to their club walks co-ordinators for helping them reach the pinnacle.

The club is always happy to discuss sponsorship deals with companies or people wishing to support the Gaelic Games community. Be it pitch side advertising, advertising on their digital clubhouse screen, team sponsorship, etc. Please contact John Hallihan on 086 0466814 if you are interested in sponsoring the club in any way across all sections from football, ladies football, camogie and hurling.

Members are also asked to note that all pitches, except pitch 4, are not available for use of any kind until further notice, without prior approval directly from the pitch committee.

Club membership is now open through the website.

Also remember if not re-registered, a player is not entitled to the Player Injury fund. So it’s especially important to re-join as we go back to full contact training, and playing challenge matches.

The rates reflect the increases unanimously approved at the recent AGM. The increase is necessary to allow the club to fund the all-weather pitch development that will commence as soon as possible. There is an extended four-month payment plan available.

They are also looking for volunteers to their Lotto team in any way. Contact Der O’Regan on 086 6093083, or Brendan Murray on 087 2273077, or any member of the team if you can contribute some of your time.

They wish to extend their thanks to Mick O’Brien for his sterling service to the club over the years, and his many years of looking after the direct debit side of the club Lotto.

The Lotto jackpot now stands at €3,400 and the second prize is €2,500.

The spokesperson added: “This is a very important fundraiser for your club, so why not have a flutter?

“You can purchase tickets online through our website, or through the Clubforce Connect App, or you can purchase tickets directly in the club bar in advance of the draw at 9pm every Sunday evening.

“A direct Debit option is available as well. If anyone is interested in becoming a promoter where you sell a book of 10 tickets each week to family, friends, workmates etc , you are automatically entered into a promoters only draw each Sunday, please contact Der Regan on 086 6093083 for further details.” The club would also like to congratulate clubmen Paddy (Bobsy) Barry, Eddie Cox and Willie Coveney as they introduce some of the Gambian locals to GAA.

They are volunteers working in the country with United Friends For Education, building and renovating schools, providing underprivileged children access to quality education, helping them to reach their full potential.

The three club members would like to say thank you to everyone who has helped in any way and to the club for the jersey donations. Follow this link to their Facebook page for more details: https://www.facebook.com/share/1CQZJKfMvM/
