Almost €26,500 was raised for Marymount Hospice at the 10-year anniversary Sonatinas Choir Gala concert.

The event, which was a collaborative effort between multiple local singing groups, took place at Cork City Hall last November and saw €26,493 raised for Marymount Hospice.

Participating groups, under the baton of Rachel O’Brien, included The Sonatinas, Hill Harmonics, The City of Cork Male Voice Choir, The Showstoppers, and students of Sonatina Music Academy and Cork Project Orchestra.

The money raised was recently presented to Eadaoin McCarthy, fundraising officer at Marymount Hospice, and will go towards the provision of care at the facility for dependent older people across Cork. Ms O’Brien said the event created an atmosphere to remember.

“A sincere thank you to all involved, to the audience members who attended, the businesses that sponsored raffles to make this amount possible,” said Ms O’Brien. “The choir and orchestra sang to a full house on the evening and the atmosphere was electric.”
