Cork man who threatened to have woman tied and chopped up pleads guilty to charge

 A man has pleaded guilty after being charged with threatening to kill a young woman. It is alleged that he texted another person saying that she was going to be tied, chopped, and murdered.

Ruairí Lally, aged 21, appeared at Cork Circuit Criminal Court where he was arraigned on the charge that on September 27, 2025, he made a threat to kill or cause serious harm to the woman contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act.

The man replied, “Guilty”, when charged.

Sentencing was adjourned by Judge Helen Boyle until Thursday at Cork Circuit Criminal Court. The accused was represented by barrister Elaine Audley.

Detective Garda Dave Hickey objected to bail being granted to Lally, of Wainsfort, Rochestown Rd, when he was first charged.

Det Garda Hickey said: “It is alleged that on September 27 at approximately 2pm, Ruairí Lally sent four messages to his probation officer, stating, ‘I’m going to hurt her badly’. ‘Chop her open and stab her to death’.

“He then sent a screenshot of a message to be sent to (the woman), which said, ‘Going to hurt you seriously. Tie you up and kick you to death.’ ‘Getting you chopped up and murdered and enjoy every second of it.’

 “All of these messages relate to threatening to kill (the woman).”
