The 30-year-old Cork man accused of murdering a 68-year-old man at The Glen in Cork city almost two years ago had his case adjourned until February 16 at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork.

The case was mentioned on Monday and it was indicated that if it goes ahead next Monday, it is estimated that the trial will last two to three weeks.

Ms Justice Siobhán Lankford adjourned the case on the application of prosecution senior counsel Jane Hyland for one week.

Aaron Wolfe, of Glentrasna Court, The Glen, Cork, is charged with murdering Florence (Florrie) O’Sullivan on March 11, 2023, at 15 Glentrasna Court, The Glen, contrary to common law.

The background to the matter is that Mr O’Sullivan died at Cork University Hospital on April 6, 2023. He had been hospitalised after the alleged incident at Glentrasna Court on March 11, 2023.

It was previously reported that following a number of calls to the emergency services, the injured party was removed from the scene by ambulance.

An incident room was set up at Watercourse Road Garda Station. A large volume of CCTV has been harvested, a number of witness statements taken, and forensic evidence obtained.

An autopsy took place and confirmed the violent circumstances.

The late Mr O’Sullivan, who was originally from Adrigole, lived for many years in a flat in Cork city centre. More recently, he had been living in Carrigaline.
