Garda probe as Cork city school missing six-figure sum

Gardaí are investigating the disappearance of a substantial sum of money from a school in Cork city.

It is understood that the amount of money involved is a six-figure sum.

The investigation is in its early stages and no arrests have been made.

The school involved is a primary school on the southside of the city.

The funds are believed to have disappeared over a lengthy period of time but only came to the attention of school management in recent months.

Gardaí have confirmed that a report has been made to them in relation to the disappearance of money from the school and an investigation is in the early stages.

A source said: “I can confirm that something has been reported to us and it is under investigation.

“There is certainly a substantial figure involved over a sustained period of time.”

When contacted for comment, the school involved would not issue a statement in relation to the investigation, saying it is a “sensitive matter”.
