Theatre casting calls

The Carrigaline community Theatre has issued a correction to the previously advertised casting call dates for forthcoming productions.

Taking to social media, the theatre group said: “The previous poster had incorrect dates.

“Here are the correct dates for our upcoming casting call.”

The youth casting call for Us and Them will take place at the Carrigaline Youth Centre from 7.30pm on Monday, January 19.

The adult casting call for So and Keys of the Kingdom will take place at the Carrigaline Lions Youth Centre on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 20 and 21 and 7.30pm on both nights.

“We apologise for and confusion and thank you for your understanding,” the social media post.

Social swimming group is back

The Carrigaline Social Swimming Group, established in 2003, is back in action at the excellent pool plus jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room every Thursday at 9.30pm at Carrigaline Court Hotel Leisure Centre.

Everyone, including those unable to swim, is welcome to attend, and there is no charge for first night visitors.

A new 10-week term begins on Thursday, January 29, for only €80.

New members are most welcome to come along any Thursday on a pay-per-swim basis for only €10.

It’s a great fun hour of exercise and relaxation every week for every type of swimmer, and non-swimmer,” said a group spokesperson.

“So why not give it a try and make a resolution to be more active in 2026?

Crosshaven Brownies

Crosshaven Brownies are seeking new member this month, with girls who will be seven this year up to those aged nine welcome to join. 

"We take girls from all backgrounds, nationalities, faith and no faith backgrounds," said a spokesperson. 

Crosshaven Brownies starts back on Tuesday 20th Jan.

We meet in Crosshaven Pitch and Putt Clubhouse, 6:30-7:45pm.

Ireland Lights Up

Carrigaline Camogie, LGFA & GAA Club is taking part in Ireland Lights Up, staring this week and running for five weeks. 

People wishing to participate can download the MyLife App, register and link to the club. 

The app will then track your total steps over the duration of the initiative.

"We will meet for one hour every Wednesday from 7-8pm and walk as a club and community on our new walk way at the club grounds," said a spokesperson 

"The club with the most steps counted could win €30,000

This is open to everyone - players, members, non members - all are welcome."

Table Quiz

It is all systems go for the Carrigaline Men’s Shed Table Quiz this Saturday January 17th in the GAA Pavilion at 7.30pm. The Men’s Shed has received a great array of sponsored prizes for the event which promises to be a great night. Enquiries Roger Morrissey 087 220 3547.

Aifreann Gaeilge

Blood Donors 

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service will hold a two day clinic in the Carrigaline Educate Together School off Cherry Blossom Road on Wednesday and Thursday15th & 16th January from 4.50 to 9.00pm. Please donate and save lives. Supplies are low and demand is high. Enquiries 1800 731137 between 9.00am and 5.00pm.

Tidy Towns 

Carrigaline Tidy Towns were out in force last Saturday morning after Christmas to do a major litter pick around the town well done to the team who take great pride in the appearance of Carrigaline. This autumn and winter season Tidy Towns with the help of clubs, schools and teams from local companies planted thousands of bulbs throughout the town. The volunteers continue to meet every Tuesday and Saturday mornings at headquarters in the car park at 9:30 am. New members are always welcome, enquiries Carrigaline tt@gmail.com Men’s Shed The Carrigaline Men’s Shed had a busy time on the run up to Christmas with their very successful bag packing fundraiser in Dunnes Stores and their choir singing for two hours to welcome visitors home at Cork Airport on Sunday December 21st. Some members helped with the stewarding at the Wren on St Stephen’s Day. Their next fundraising event is their table quiz in the GAA Pavilion on Saturday January 17th. Shed activities are back to normal with the Men’s choir getting their songs ready for the Shed concert on Sunday March 22nd. Preparations for the St Patrick’s Day project are progressing. Pipe Band Carrigaline Pipe Band are back after the Christmas break to full practice mode starting this Thursday. New classes for beginners are due to start shortly. Enquiries to Paddy O’Connell 087 968 5833.
