In the mid 1980s the custom of the Wren boys started in Carrigaline with a small number of participants, over the years it has grown to be a major spectacle and has evolved as the Wren Boys Street Festival.
Boys and girls dress up in brightly coloured costumes, with painted faces and others will be dressing in straw suits to play traditional music, sing and dance on the street. Everyone is invited to take part in the fun.
The stage will be located by Phelan’s Pharmacy and the street will be closed to traffic from 10.00am to 2.00pm. All car parks will be accessible and diversions will be in place. Following the Wren on the street they will visit and play in the pubs.
A collection will be taken up in aid of Marymount and Cork Simon. Enquiries 087 813 7990.

New donors welcome, you could save a life.
Carrigaline Tidy Towns volunteers continue to clean, litter pick and plant bulbs and generally look after their gardens in readiness for Christmas and the year ahead. It is great to witness the community support Tidy Towns receives from resident associations, the schools of the parish and from a number of industries.
Plans for next year include brightly painting a number of premises on Main Street and the bountiful planting of colourful flower beds. Carrigaline Tidy Towns wish all their friends and supporters and the people of Carrigaline a peaceful and happy Christmas and a healthy New Year.
