The Cork Lions Club has launched an online auction in aid of its Christmas Food Appeal.

The auction, which has gone live for bidding, gives the public the chance to bid on a range of items and experiences.

According to the club, the Christmas Food Appeal serves as a crucial lifeline for vulnerable families and individuals across the Cork area, with all funds raised going towards the purchase of food vouchers and essential supplies. These are then distributed in partnership with local community groups and charities.

Declan Moon, president of Cork Lions Club, said the need for support in our communities is “greater this year than ever before”.

“Our online auction is our biggest single fundraiser for the appeal,” said Mr Moore.

“Every euro raised goes straight back into the community, putting food on the table and bringing a little light and dignity to those who are struggling right now.

“We urge everyone to take a look at the incredible items donated.”

Participants in the auction will have the opportunity to bid on a range of items including: Two framed prints of the Shakey Bridge by artist Sue Nelson, and a panoramic view from Bells Field by artist Jason O’Gorman; an authentic red boxing glove, signed by Olympic gold medalist Katie Taylor; more than 50 restaurant and food Vouchers; more than 30 pieces of art including original paintings and prints from local artists; DIY and jewellery voucher; sporting activity vouchers, and more.

“Cork Lions Club is deeply grateful to all the artists, businesses and individuals who have contributed items, and to the community for their ongoing support,” added Mr Moore.

“Help the Cork Lions Club make a real difference this Christmas by visiting the auction site today and placing your winning bid before the deadline.”

The auction will be open for bidding until December 12.
