One of West Cork’s most famous sporting stars has inspired the title track of a new album by Irish folk metal band The Scratch.

Olympian Paul O’Donovan’s “pull like a dog” catchphrase is also the name of the new album from the band, which is set for release on the March 13, 2026.

The band’s lead vocalist Daniel Lang said that the Pull Like A Dog track is about “tossing aside the idea of apologising for merely existing, grab life by the scruff and be loud about it”.

The video is a collaboration between the band and Dublin-based videographer Paul Gleeson, filmed on the shores of Lough Ree.

The Scratch are also taking part in a European tour this November, which will be followed by a series of shows in Ireland to conclude the year 2025.

The band’s music was featured in Netflix’s House of Guinness, a drama new series from the creator of Peaky Blinders Steven Knight.

The Scratch have also supported Dropkick Murphys across the US, Dermot Kennedy in Australia, and the Wolfe Tones in the UK.
