Met Éireann has issued a status orange rain warning for Cork for tomorrow night.

Yellow rain warnings were issued for Cork, Kerry and Waterford this morning by Met Éireann, and the national forecaster has now upgraded Cork’s warning to orange, advising of heavy rain and possible thundery downpours.

The warning will be in effect from 9pm Saturday to 5am Sunday, and they have warned of possible river flooding, especially in mountainous areas and very difficult travelling conditions.

The yellow rain warning will come into effect before this, from 5pm Saturday and bring potential localised flooding before both warnings end at 5am.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rain warning for Cork, which will be in effect over the weekend.

The yellow rain warning was issued for Cork and Kerry this morning just before 10am by Met Éireann, who advised of “spells of heavy rain with the possibility of a few thundery downpours”.

Potential impacts include localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions during the time the warning is in place, from 5pm Saturday to 5am Sunday.

A yellow rain warning for Waterford was also issued, valid from 8pm Saturday to 8am Sunday.

A yellow marine warning is also in place, a small craft warning for all coasts of Ireland from 11pm Friday to 8am Saturday, as the national forecaster advises that southeasterly winds will reach force 6 or higher.

Overall, weather in Cork city this weekend is expected to be rainy from Saturday afternoon to Sunday evening with lowest temperatures of 12 degrees.
