Cork County Council has granted planning permission for 88 new homes in Carrigaline on a vacant site off Pottery Rd.

Permission has been granted to Boar’s Head Limited for the construction of a mixed-use development at Carrigaline Town Centre on a 1.84 ha site.

It will include 88 residential housing units, comprising 18 three-bed duplex units, 25 two-bed duplex units, 22 two-bed apartments, and 23 one-bed apartments, as well as five ground-floor retail units including a cafe, gym, hair salon, day care, and newsagents over 886sq m.

The development will also include 48 car parking spaces and 128 bicycle parking spaces. Pedestrian access will be provided from both Main St (R611) and Pottery Rd.

In the design statement, the developer said: “The location of the site promotes cycling, walking, and the use of public transport, which will encourage future residents towards sustainable modes of transport.

“There are a number of local amenities within close proximity to the site, which includes several bus stops, supermarkets, and various other amenities. The site is approximately a 25-minute journey by public transport to Cork city centre.

“This new project in Carrigaline will be an aesthetically pleasing and highly efficient scheme and will provide much-needed high-quality housing in the area.

“By adding purpose to this otherwise vacant site, this proposal will also complement and enhance the experience and enjoyment of the local area.”
