Motorcyclist dies following incident at event in Cork city

A postmortem examination will be carried out at Cork University Hospital.
A motorcyclist has died following an accident at a motocross event at Vernon Mount in Cork city.
Gardai and paramedics from the National Ambulance Service attended at the scene at around 12.45pm today.
The man, who is in his forties, was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is understood the dead man is from Co Cork.
A postmortem examination will be carried out at Cork University Hospital.
A garda investigation will be carried out. The Coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held in due course.
Meanwhile, separately a man in his forties who died following an accident involving a dumper truck in Co Cork will be laid to rest tomorrow.
Stuart Daly of Knonagraigue, Corofin, Co Clare passed away on Thursday after he was struck by a dumper truck at Church Road in Ballycotton, Co Cork.
He was working in the area when the accident occurred. Emergency services and gardaí rushed to the scene. Mr Daly was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
His body was taken to Cork University Hospital where a postmortem examination was carried out.
Garda forensic collision investigators examined the scene. The Health and Safety Authority and gardaí are investigating the incident.
Mr Daly, who also previously lived in Ennis, is survived by his wife Alison, their son Dorian, his mother Trish, three sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. His funeral mass will take place at St Brigid’s Church in Corofin at 11am tomorrow with burial following at Laghtagoona Cemetery.
