Launching the ‘pathway to innovate’ scheme were Gavin Jefferey, business development manager at Ludgate Hub; Dermot Casey, CEO, IRDG; Keira Kinehan, strategic projects manager at Skillnet Ireland; Sinead O’Riordan, head of partnerships, Skillnet Innovation Exchange; Frank Brennan, CEO, Republic of Work; Conor Carmody, programme director at Skillnet Innovation Exchange.

A new programme aimed at empowering SMEs on their innovation journey has been launched this week in Cork.

Entitled “pathway to innovate” and delivered by Skillnet Innovation Exchange and IRDG Innovation Skillnet, the initiative provides innovative and entrepreneurial support to SMEs.

It offers them the opportunity to collaborate with business experts, the skills to identify the most relevant supports, and the methods to develop actionable strategies that lead to measurable outcomes.

The programme was launched with a special event on Tuesday at the Republic of Work offices on South Mall, one of the leading innovation hubs in Ireland, and home to a diverse range of more than 150 companies.

Connects

Conor Carmody, programme director at Skillnet Innovation Exchange, said that, for SMEs, “innovation doesn’t have to mean going it alone”.

“Pathway to innovate connects businesses with the right mentors, supports, and peers to unlock practical, measurable results,” said Mr Carmody.

“The key is finding what fits your business best.”

Earlier this year, Republic of Work was listed in the top 50 of Europe’s best startup hubs by The Financial Times, ranking top 10 in the UK and Ireland, and top two in Ireland.

The organisation is committed to supporting entrepreneurs and acts as an accelerator for a number of emerging Cork companies.

Future-proofing

Speaking at the launch, Frank Brennan, CEO at Republic of Work said that the organisation is “delighted to host the pathway to innovate programme at Republic of Work”.

“The initiative is designed for ambitious SMEs that want to scale with confidence, while future-proofing their organisations.

“We have seen numerous successful businesses come through our doors — it’s very rewarding and exciting to see.

“We are thrilled to partner again with Skillnet Ireland and look forward to what is to come.”

Spaces on the programme are limited, with SMEs encouraged to register their interest as soon as possible to receive tailored guidance aligned to their specific objectives.
