MTU Student GAA Club to Celebrate 50th Anniversary with Special Event on September 15th

Munster Technological University (MTU) GAA club has announced details of an event to mark its 50th anniversary celebrations which will take place on September 15, with former Cork Senior Hurling manager Pat Ryan among the guest speakers.

Taking place at the MTU Bishopstown Campus in Cork, the evening will kick off with food and refreshments at 6.30pm.

This will be followed by a panel discussion at 7pm. This will feature a selection of former MTU players and club members, who will share their memories and reflections on their time with MTU GAA Club.

Along with Mr Ryan, also taking part in the panel discussion will be well known faces across hurling, football, camogie, and ladies football such as Juliette Murphy, Keith Ricken, John Meyler, and Saoirse McCarthy.

The MTU GAA Club also has produced a number of intercounty players and All-Ireland medal winners over the years. Among them are Graham Canty, Eoin Cadogan, and Daniel Goulding.

Some of the current players who have lined out for MTU Cork in more recent times include current Cork Senior Hurlers Alan Connolly, Ciaran Joyce, and Jack Cahalane.

Speaking ahead of the event, MTU GAA officer, Kevin O’Callaghan, said: “This celebration is about honouring everyone who has contributed to the MTU GAA Club over the past 50 years, from players and coaches to supporters and volunteers.

“The club has played a huge role in shaping the student experience, and we look forward to marking this special anniversary with the wider MTU community.”
