Cork Chamber has been named a finalist in the World Chambers Competition, a global showcase of innovative projects led by chambers of commerce worldwide.

As one of four finalists in the Best Collaboration of Chambers, Business and Government category, Cork Chamber will present its project at the upcoming 14th World Chambers Congress in Melbourne in September, where winners will be announced.

Cork Chamber’s shortlisted entry, Facilitating Sustainable and Competitive Growth through Local Green Deals, was delivered in partnership with Cork City Council and has already received EU recognition for its leadership in driving green transition initiatives at a local level.

The other finalists in this category are leading organisations British Chambers of Commerce, Turin Chamber of Commerce, and Vienna Economic Chamber.

Cork Chamber CEO Conor Healy said they are very proud of this achievement.

“Being named a finalist by the International Chamber of Commerce is a powerful endorsement of the collaborative ambition we are driving in Cork,” said Mr Healy.

“Our Local Green Deal reaffirms Cork Chamber’s commitment to impactful climate action, both through our own operations and by empowering our members with sustainability-focused initiatives.

As an SDG Champion, we are proud to support Cork’s ambition to be an EU Climate Neutral and Smart City, and to showcase this leadership on the world stage.”

Representing Cork Chamber at the congress will be Alicia Mateos-Cárdenas.

“This achievement reflects Cork Chamber’s commitment, alongside our members and Cork City Council, to driving impactful action,” she said.

“I am looking forward to presenting our work through the Local Green Deal partnerships to the judging panel.

"It showcases the key role that a chamber of commerce can have in helping shape a more sustainable and resilient future for a region, working together with our members and the local government.”
