Nicola Keohane has been appointed as senior speech and language therapist by Sensational Kids in Clonakilty.

Cork woman Nicola Keohane has been appointed as senior speech and language therapist at Sensational Kids Child Development Centre in Clonakilty.

Ms Keohane, a Barryroe native, will focus on providing high-quality, evidence-based assessments of and recommendations to children with a range of developmental conditions.

Sensational Kids is an award-winning social enterprise and charity, dedicated to providing affordable and accessible developmental assessments and therapies to children and adolescents with additional needs.

Sensational Kids founder and CEO Karen Leigh said Ms Keohane will play “a key role in working with children and adolescents of all ages and all abilities, including those with additional needs such as children who are non-verbal”.

“I am delighted to welcome Nicola to our Munster Child Development Centre in Cork as speech and language therapist,” said Ms Leigh.

“Nicola has a strong background in providing quality services and supports to children and their families, including in-depth knowledge of working with neurodivergent young people.”

Ms Keohane’s appointment increases the multidisciplinary team at the centre to six, which includes occupational therapists, a play therapist, a child and adolescent psychotherapist, and speech and language therapists.

Ms Keohane said providing support to children and adolescents with additional needs is a “key priority” for both her and the organisation.

“The work that Sensational Kids do is critical to all the children and families around the country who need help and support,” said Ms Keohane. “I very much look forward to welcoming and supporting children and their families in our Munster Child Development Centre.”
