Runners on Sherkin Island are limbering up in advance of next week's Do Run Run, the seventh annual fundraising run on the West Cork island, and this year all money collected will go towards a hybrid Local Link bus for the island as well as the campaign to build a Wild Atlantic community pool in Baltimore.

The run offers three scenic routes—4 km, 6 km, and 8 km—catering to families, casual walkers, and keen runners alike. The 4 km option is buggy-friendly, while the longer routes explore hidden island trails, cliff top paths and stunning beaches. The runs are described as suitable for all levels of participaints - walkers, joggers,  runners and supporters.

“Do Run Run isn’t just about running—it’s about bringing people together to enjoy Sherkin’s natural beauty and community spirit,” said organiser Aisling Moran.

The run takes place on Saturday, August 9, and the starting gun will sound at 2.30pm and all participants are expected to finish by 4pm.  The entry fee for adults is €12 plus a booking fee of €1.85.  The booking fee for children aged 6-12 is €8 plus €1.55. The first 100 to register will get a free t-shirt.
