Cork County Council’s free community mental health and wellbeing event is returning to Leeside next month.

The ‘Together at Fair Green’ event, which is a collaborative effort between Cork County Council, HSE South-West, Connecting for Life, Midleton and Area Chamber of Commerce, Midleton Family Resource Centre, and SECAD, aims to create an open, supportive environment that promotes connection and celebrates community spirit.

Now in its third year, the one-day event will take place on August 24 from 12pm to 4pm at Fair Green in Midleton. This year’s programme of events includes a mix of live entertainment, hands-on activities, and family-friendly workshops, with more than 30 local organisations offering resources and information on mental health and wellbeing.

The Mayor of the County of Cork, councillor Mary Linehan Foley, said the annual event helps to “open up the conversation” about mental health and wellbeing.

“Cork County Council is proud to continue supporting this important event,” said Ms Linehan Foley.

“‘Together at Fair Green’ provides a meaningful space where people can connect, learn, and support one another. Promoting mental health and wellbeing in our communities is more important than ever, and events like this help open up the conversation in a positive and inclusive way.”

Declan Cronin, head of mental health services at HSE South-West, said that the event focuses on “breaking down the stigma” around mental health.

“It’s truly inspiring to see Cork and Kerry’s statutory, voluntary and community partners come together to make ‘Together at Fair Green’ such a welcoming space,” said Mr Cronin. “By blending fun, creativity and open conversation, we’re breaking down the stigma and ensuring everyone in East Cork knows where to turn for mental health support.

“This event is a testament to what we can achieve when we put community wellbeing first.”
