Cork County Council to offer 13 homes in Youghal under affordable scheme

Constructed by Tipson Prodig Construction, the houses will be available for first-time buyers who do not own a home — although a small number of exceptions apply — and Fresh Start applicants.

A new affordable housing purchase scheme in East Cork has been announced by Cork County Council.

Applications will open on August 11 for the new two-, three-, and four-bed houses, which are located in Silverwood, Youghal.

Constructed by Tipson Prodig Construction, the houses will be available for first-time buyers who do not own a home — although a small number of exceptions apply — and Fresh Start applicants.

Five two-bed houses will be available from €215,000, which is a reduction of around 25.8% on market value.

Seven three-bed houses will be available from €247,000, which represents a reduction of around 23% on market value.

One four-bed house will be available from €267,000.

Mayor of the County of Cork Mary Linehan Foley said that Cork County Council is delighted to launch the new affordable housing scheme.

“The development in Silverwood is in a great location, within walking distance of Youghal town centre and around 40 minutes’ drive to Cork city,” said Ms Linehan Foley.

“The provision of these houses shows the council’s continuing progress under the Government’s Housing for All national housing plan.”

Cork County Council chief executive Moira Murrell said: “The launch of these 13 houses, provided by the council under the affordable scheme, shows the council’s commitment to providing homes.

“To date, more than 230 houses have been made available under the affordable scheme, in 10 developments located in nine different towns in Co Cork.”

Applications for the scheme will be accepted from 12pm on Monday, August 11, to 12pm on Monday, September 1, through the online application portal on the Cork County Council website.
