The Galeón Andalucía, a reproduction Spanish galleon, is docking at Custom House Quay this Thursday.

Whether your point of reference is the Fourth Spanish Armada on its way to the Battle of Kinsale, or Captain Jack Sparrow in The Pirates of the Caribbean, Cork fans of tall ships are in for a treat this week.

The Galeón Andalucía, a reproduction Spanish galleon, is docking at Custom House Quay this Thursday, and visitors will be welcomed aboard.

The 160-foot-long ship is a full-sized replica of the armed merchant vessels manufactured by Spain and Portugal between the 16th and 18th centuries.

Built in 2009, the galleon boasts six decks and seven sails, and Cork will be the first port of call on its first visit to Ireland.

Described as a “floating museum”, the galleon has, in recent times, visited the Netherlands, Germany, France and multiple ports in the United Kingdom.

The Galeón Andalucía will be at Custom House Quay in Cork from Thursday 22 to Sunday, May 25, and open to visitors from 10am to 8pm.

Tickets for adults are €14, €7 for chidren aged five to 10 years, and €30 for a family of two adults and up to three children between five and10 years). Free for children under five years old, who must be accompanied by an adult.
