Cork’s Blackrock Rd remains closed, with diversions in place, some 24 hours after a road traffic collision yesterday caused a wall to collapse.

According to An Garda Síochána, no serious injuries were reported after a car struck a wall on the Blackrock Rd, causing the wall to partially collapse.

A spokesperson for Cork City Council said on Monday afternoon: “Please note that the road was closed as a result of a private wall collapse.

A garda statement issued just after 6pm on Sunday said: “Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision in Ballintemple, Cork city.

“The collision in which a car struck a wall on the Blackrock Road occurred at approximately 2:50pm this afternoon, Sunday, May 11. No serious injuries have been reported at this time.

“The road is closed and local diversions are in place.”

“Please note that the road was closed as a result of a private wall collapse. The road remains closed and we are working on reopening the road. We will update as it arises.”
