After more than 1,500 people turned out for last year’s festival, Cork’s free Holi event is set to return to Fitzgerald’s Park later this month.

Holi is an Indian festival which is also known as the Festival of Colours, and it marks the onset of spring, celebrating diversity in India as people from all religions participate.

Billed as “a day of colour, music, dance, food and pure joy”, the festival will feature eco-friendly colours, cultural performances, family-friendly activities, and a live DJ with Bollywood beats.

Last year saw Holi celebrations take place all over the country, but the Cork event was the only one in Ireland which was free, and it saw huge crowds brave a status yellow rain warning to attend the gathering in Fitzgerald’s Park.

This year’s event will also be free, but it will be ticketed, so anyone interested in attending is asked to visit the link below.

Cork’s free Holi event is scheduled to run from midday until 4pm on Sunday, March 16.
