The Metropole Hotel on MacCurtain Street has announced that its lobby will be closed to the public for a few months as a major refurbishment gets underway.

The lobby refurbishment is one part of an “exciting transformation” process; from January 6 to May 9 this year, the hotel’s ground floor is undergoing a renovation.

The lobby and all seating areas in the ground floor lobby will be closed, and the property will not be suitable for wheelchair users or those with mobility issues during this time.

Since January 6, breakfast service has been provided on the first floor in the Beckett Suite, and the gym has been closed, but a smaller fitness room has been available at a different location within the hotel.

Sharing on social media, hotel management wrote: “From February 17, the Metropole Hotel lobby will be closed for a refurbishment project until May, 2025. The hotel will remain open for business as usual during this time.”

The Met Bar & Restaurant and the Tea Room can be accessed through the MacCurtain Street entrance, and steps to the left of the hotel will take visitors to the bar and restaurant.

The hotel reception, which will be located on the first floor during the refurbishment project, can be accessed through the entrance on the right of the hotel, while the conference and banqueting team will assist meeting and events guests on the first floor. The Metropole Hotel thanked guests for their understanding and patience as the hotel works to improve its space.

Hotel staff are committed to making stays “as comfortable as possible” while work progresses on the refurbishment project.
