Munster Technological University (MTU) has announced a special guest lecture to celebrate 50 years of graduates from the Bishopstown campus.

The event, taking place from 7pm at MTU on March 11, will offer a unique opportunity to reflect on five decades of achievement in higher education while also looking ahead to what the next 50 years will bring.

The event will feature two distinguished speakers, including Brendan Goggin, who is a registrar emeritus of Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) who will provide a historical overview of the campus, from its establishment to its integration into MTU; and Professor Maggie Cusack, MTU president, who will share her vision for the future and aspirations for the next half-century.

Ms Cusack said: “The celebration of the 50th anniversary of our Bishopstown campus is an opportune moment to reflect on our achievements to date and to look forward to what we plan to achieve over the next 50 years.”

She added: “As one of six campuses in our new university, we look forward to continuing to provide the best possible education to a larger number of students and learners across a range of disciplines.

“This will continue MTU’s positive impact on the economy and society in Cork and Kerry, and contribute to Ireland’s reputation for excellence in further and higher education nationally and internationally.”

A guided tour of the campus will also be offered prior to the lecture at 5.30pm.

To ensure accessibility, the event will incorporate in-person and online attendance, however, advance registration is mandatory, with tickets available at: https://events.mtu.ie/
