School bus involved in 'minor collision' in Cork

Four crews from Cork City Fire Brigade, as well as gardaí and a number of ambulances, responded to the incident, which occurred in the Carrigrohane area just after 2pm on Friday.
A school bus carrying up to 40 children was involved in what has been described as “a minor collision” with another vehicle in Cork on Friday afternoon.
Four crews from Cork City Fire Brigade, as well as gardaí and a number of ambulances, responded to the incident, which occurred in the Carrigrohane area just after 2pm on Friday.
Victor Shine, second officer with Cork City Fire Brigade, said there had been a “low-speed” collision on the Carriganarra Road, which had resulted in no injuries, but emergency services had reacted with “an abundance of caution” given the young age of the children on the bus.
“A school bus was involved in a low-speed impact with a car pulling out of a driveway, there was one male in the car and up to 40 students in the bus,” Mr Shine said.
“There was a collision made, a phone call was made, and there was a response to it because of the age of the kids on the bus.
“We went out to triage everybody, the scene was controlled for a while and the kids were evacuated off the bus, and thankfully nobody required hospitalisation.”
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a road traffic collision involving a bus and a car on the Carriganarra Road in Cork at approximately 1:20pm this afternoon, Friday, February 7. No injuries were reported.”
