A Cork-based start-up has announced that it will be expanding both domestically and internationally, with plans for launches in the UK and USA.

Revelate Fitness, which is a personally tailored fitness class app, was founded in Cork in 2022 by Chris Kenefick, and is now available in 10 gyms across Ireland, five of which are in Cork.

With more than 1,200 people doing Revelate classes every month, the business announced that it will now be bringing its services to gyms across London, Scotland, Washington DC, and Texas.

The app focuses on cardio classes, with a 45-minute workout designed for varying levels of ability, that can be accessed by connecting your phone or tablet to your workout machine.

The Revelate classes involve three cardio machines, the rower, the bike, and the ski machine, with the technology ensuring each person gets a workout tailored to their fitness level.

This means that both the average gym goer and the professional athlete get a challenging workout in every class.

With their plans to expand, the Revelate Fitness team believes they will change the fitness industry in Ireland and further afield.

“We looked around at all the classes in our area and they were all more or less the same and people were either becoming bored very quickly or intimidated by the fitter people in the class,” said Mr Kenefick.

“We wanted to offer a better system that suits everyone and keeps them fitter for longer.

“When we were developing the Revelate IT platform we based it on two principles — the first is that every user has a target for their own fitness level, [and] the second is that they can track their progress.

“We have seen that when a person can see their results and the improvement in their fitness, then they’re more likely to keep going.

“Most gyms already have the equipment, so introducing Revelate Fitness is a simple process [and] we will show the coaches how to work the app, [so] there is no special training required.”
