A Cork man has been announced as the winner of the annual St Vincent DePaul (SVP) Car Draw, which generated more than a quarter of a million euro for the charity.

The prize draw took place last week at the Cork city Ford showroom on Forge Hill, with the Lord Mayor of Cork, councillor Dan Boyle, drawing the first prize ticket.

Following the draw, Carrigaline man Séan Kennedy Jr was announced as the winner of a new Ford Focus.

This edition of the SVP Car Draw generated €251,181 for the charity, with the funds earmarked to assist those in need throughout the coming year.

There were six other lucky winners of cash prizes, including Ballyvourney woman, Marian Creedon, who secured a cash prize of €750.

Laois man Ger Conroy won the Bishops’ Prize of €1,500. This prize is supported by the Bishop of Cork and Ross, the Bishop of Kerry and the Bishop of Cloyne.

“I am most grateful for the generosity of the Cork and Kerry public for their support of the annual car draw, which is now in its 24th year,” Mary Frances Behan, south west regional SVP president said after the draw was made. .

“We have raised a staggering €251,181 this year, [and] the funds [will] help to offer a lifeline to struggling families and individuals in the region.

“A special word of sincere thanks to our car draw ambassador, Francis Brennan, and to our suppliers and sponsors throughout 2024.

“As we wish the lucky winner safe driving and close off our 2024 car draw, do watch out for our 2025 annual car draw later in the year, where another beautiful car awaits another lucky winner with many cash prizes.”

Other winners include: Maria McGeever from Dublin, Gemma Robins from Kerry, Breid McCole from Donegal and Alan Mc Cormack from Roscommon.
