The public is being reminded that registration for the Cork City Marathon 2025 remains open, with four months to go until this year’s event.
Organised by Cork City Council, the marathon offers three race distances to choose from: the full marathon, which is almost sold out, the half marathon, and the 10k.
Speaking ahead of the event on June 1, Green Party councillor Dan Boyle, Lord Mayor of Cork, said the Cork City Marathon “is not just about running, it’s about coming together, supporting one another, and celebrating the shared journey”.
He added: “Whether you’re running with a partner, a friend, or a team, the experience is made all the more special by those you share it with.
“I wish everyone the very best of luck with their training. And I look forward to cheering you across the finish line.”
Also speaking in the lead-up to the event, chief executive of Cork City Council, Valerie O’Sullivan, said: “There’s a unique camaraderie that comes with training for an event like this.
“2025 marks 43 years since the first Cork City Marathon and we’re thrilled to be building on its legacy.
“From elite athletes to first-time runners, this event is about inclusivity and community — and, for many, it’s about the shared memories made with their training partners.”
The 2025 Cork City Marathon is set to feature new enhancements, including improved amenities and sustainability initiatives.
As always, spectators can enjoy a festival atmosphere, with live music and family-friendly activities.
