Gardaí apprehend young driver in tractor untaxed for 2,919 days

Gardaí in Cork yesterday apprehended a young driver travelling in a tractor that had not been taxed in 2,919 days.
Members of An Garda Síochána acting as part of the Cork County Road Policing Unit stopped a tractor in the Bandon area yesterday evening.
The vehicle was being driven by a 16-year-old driver who gardaí claimed intended on going on a ‘road trip’.
The New Holland tractor that the young driver was travelling in had not been taxed in over seven years.
“Cork County Road Policing Unit based in Bandon stopped a tractor. The tax was checked on the Garda mobility device showing it had expired by 2919 days. The 16-year-old driver was on a road trip. The Annual Agricultural tractor motor rate is €102 a year," An Garda Síochána shared on Facebook.
An Garda Síochána is conducting a dedicated road traffic enforcement operation throughout the Christmas period which began on Friday, November 19 and will continue until Monday, January 6.
