Gardaí saw a motorist struggling to drive straight through Cork city, with extensive damage to his car, and he later told gardaí he damaged it three days earlier doing handbrake turns. Now he has been convicted and fined €1,000 and jailed for one month.

Istvan Konyari, aged 38, with an address at Shandon St, Cork, pleaded guilty to charges of careless driving and to a related offence of driving a dangerously defective vehicle.
