A dynamic and inclusive football tournament was held at Sam Allen Pitches recently as part of One World Week 2024.

The event hosted by Cloyne Diocesan Youth Services (CDYS) The Hut UBU Youth Project celebrated diversity, inclusion, and community health through sport.

“This football tournament is more than just a game; it's an opportunity to bring people together in the spirit of unity, community, and global citizenship. Some of the young people who attended this tournament do not normally engage in events and workshops about the goals, so we used the medium of sport to get them interacting with the goals ” said Joe Curtin, Coordinator at CDYS.

“By partnering with these organisations, we’re emphasising the power of sport to bridge divides and encourage healthy, inclusive spaces for young people.”

The tournament aligned with the One World Week theme of "Change is a Journey," encouraging young people to recognize and act upon their roles in creating a more inclusive, equitable world. The event underlined CDYS's commitment to fostering community-driven social change through creative youth programs and accessible, supportive environments.
