Green Party councillor Dan Boyle, Lord Mayor of Cork, has officially launched the 2024 Lord Mayor’s Gala Christmas Concert.

Now in its 62nd year, the annual event will take place on December 7 in Cork City Hall.

Mr Boyle said: “I’m thrilled to officially launch this year’s Gala Concert, and look forward to bringing together families, friends, and music lovers on December 7.

“This year’s concert will be a wonderful occasion in aid of three organisations that do incredible work in our city all year round.

“That the concert is now in its 62nd year is testament to the unwavering generosity and charitable spirit of the people of Cork at Christmas and I am honoured to be part of this marvellous tradition,” he added.

Attendees at the launch were treated to incredible performances from the High Hopes Choir representing Cork Penny Dinners, as well as Inclusive Dance Cork and Balance Summer Camp, who are the Lord Mayor’s three chosen charity beneficiaries for this year’s gala concert.

Led by programme director Yvonne Coughlan, the line-up will include Cork acts such as Majella Cullagh, Stephanie Rainey, Lady Fi, Kevin Walsh, and the Cork Concert Orchestra conducted by Brian Prendergast.

Also performing will be Pakie O’Callaghan, Montforts Youth Choir, Choral Con Fusion, Kylana Choir, Citadel, the Joan Denise Moriarty School of Dance and more.

Tickets for the concert are on sale now and can be purchased through The Everyman website or in Pro Musica, Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork, and are sure to sell quickly.
