Volunteers at one of Cork’s oldest charities have welcomed a donation of €10,000 from PepsiCo Ireland.

As PepsiCo celebrates 50 years in Cork, one of the company’s 50for50 campaign activities encouraged employees to answer Cork Penny Dinners’ appeal for back-to-school supplies.

Employees donated 150 school bags, pencil cases, and other back-to-school supplies.

PepsiCo teams have had a long association with Penny Dinners, which provides essential meals and services to those in need.

Penny Dinners’ volunteer co-ordinator Caitríona Twomey said Pepsico’s support was of “absolutely invaluable help” to the Little Hanover St charity.

“They do more than just volunteer, they give us their friendship and their kindness, and we’re so glad that they are part of the Penny Dinners family,” Ms Twomey said.
