Due to the weather warning in Cork, and the forecast for heavy rainfall, our SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division match against Sligo Rovers, will now take place at St. Colman’s Park in Cobh, at the later time of 7pm.@LOIWomen#CCFC84 || #WLOI pic.twitter.com/OnblKwMz9B
They are reaching out a hand to help Cuanlee Refuge which provides safe and secure crisis accommodation for women and children experiencing domestic abuse, helping women who wish to move on and live independently, free from violence.
When families arrive in the refuge, often they arrive with little or nothing, so the team are asking people attending this weekend’s clash to bring one of a number of items which it’s hoped will be used as Christmas gifts for the women and children who avail of Cuanlee Refuge accommodation.
The list of items the organisation has indicated it would like donations of are clothes, teddy bears, board games, toys, deodorant sets and cinema vouchers, with attendees asked to bring new items.
Danny Murphy, head of Women’s Football said: “We are delighted to be able to support such a great organisation like Cuanlee Refuge.”
He explained: “They do fantastic work providing safe accommodation to women and children experiencing domestic abuse.
Anyone who is not attending the game but would like to donate to Cuanlee Refuge can go to https://cuanleerefuge.org/donations/ with options to donate online, by post or by calling the centre.
Looking back over a positive 2024 season for the team, Mr Murphy added: “This has been a great year for our team and we are really excited about our final game of the season on Saturday night.
“We have had great support from the fans throughout the season and I would like to thank them for creating a great atmosphere at the games which always gives the players a boost on the pitch.”
