Winter wonderland coming to Cork's Páirc Uí Chaoimh

A new immersive winter wonderland experience will be coming to Cork city this festive season.

Winterlee, a Christmas market featuring various wooden chalets offering festive food and drinks, local craft stalls, a funfair, and Cork’s Alpine Skate Trail, will be open to the public at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh from November 8 until January 19.

The event is the culmination of work by three Cork businesses, Cool Running Events, SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh and Brook Foods.

Cool Running Events will bring the magic of ice skating back to Cork city for the first time since Cork On Ice in 2019, before evolving into the acclaimed Alpine Skate Trail.

Managing Director of Cool Running Events, Bill Cremin said: “We couldn’t be happier with our new home at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

“At Cool Running Events, we like to bring the unimaginable to life and we certainly feel like we’re doing that by opening the world’s first ice skating trail in a stadium concourse.

“After serving the people of Cork since 2007 with Cork On Ice, before moving to Fota House for a few years, we knew our return to the city would need to be spectacular, and that’s what Winterlee will be.

“We’re delighted to team up with SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh and Brook Foods for the most unique Winter experience in Cork city, and one we’ll remember for a long, long time.” 

CEO of Cork GAA and SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Kevin O'Donovan said: “We are excited to see our stadium continue to evolve, offering a unique experience for the Cork public and beyond.

“I am delighted to welcome Bill and the team at Cool Running Events, we believe this will be the first skate through an international stadium.

“Together with our catering partners, Brook Foods, we will provide yet another opportunity for people to gather in Cork city and experience our venue on a whole new level.”

To celebrate the announcement of Winterlee, Alpine Skate Trail is offering limited Early Bird ice skating tickets, priced at €14 at www.iceskating.ie.
