Linda Murphy, Glanmire, who will be raising funds for Glanmire First Responders after they saved her brother's life earlier this year.

Glanmire woman Linda Murphy will be running The Echo Women’s Mini Marathon this Sunday, and is raising money for a cause very close to her heart.

The Cork woman described how her brother Henry suffered a cardiac arrest on June 6 in “an event our family will never forget”.

Glanmire First Responder John Sreenan arrived just minutes after the 999 call, she said, explaining: “John brought a defibrillator and had to shock Henry twice before his heart started beating again.

“Shortly after, the ambulance arrived, and the crew were equally amazing.”

Linda said if it weren’t for the quick response of the local Glanmire First responders “he wouldn’t be here with us today”, adding: “We truly don’t appreciate enough the life-saving work these people do, but on that day, we were profoundly grateful.”

Linda is raising money for the local first responders “as a way to give back”.

She will be in Ryan’s SuperValu Glanmire today from 11.30am with sponsorship cards and a donation bucket, and is hoping to raise as much money as she can for the group.

"All the money raised will go directly to support their incredible work," she said.
