'We're excited to reveal our newly refurbished store': Penneys completes €4m renovation of Cork outlet

The revamped store, which originally opened in 2007, now features updated branding and signage, in line with Penneys’ recently refreshed new brand look, as well as new fixtures and fittings throughout the retail floor and back-of-house.
Penneys has announced that it has completed a €4 million renovation of its Wilton Shopping Centre store.
The refit has resulted in an expansion to the now 31,800 sq ft retail space with a larger home department and extensions to the beauty and women’s clothing departments.
Eighteen self-checkout tills have been introduced to the store, alongside its traditional tills.
The development forms part of its €250 million commitment to invest in in-store retail experiences across Ireland.

The store also benefits from new energy-efficient LED lighting, helping to reduce lighting energy consumption by half.
The major renovation project took three months to complete, with works taking place at night by a team of 15 contractors while the store was closed, allowing the store to continue to serve customers during the day.
Fintan Costello, Head of Penneys Ireland and Northern Ireland, said: “We’re excited to reveal our newly refurbished store in the Wilton Shopping Centre, in Cork – we know our loyal customers are going to love the transformation. The store has a fresh, modern feel, and an all-important enhanced shopping experience. With a much larger home department, shoppers can now find all their favourite home essentials and more in one place.
"This refurbishment reflects our ongoing commitment to investing in our Irish stores and towns, with more exciting projects planned for the future.”
