A leading cybersecurity and compliance company has announced its intention to create more than 250 jobs in Cork over next two years.

Proofpoint Inc opened a new office in Cork city centre today with plans for ongoing, active recruitment and continued investment in the region.

The company has a global headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, and offices worldwide, including in the UK and Northern Ireland.

The Cork city centre hub will initially house key functions for the business including engineering, research and development (R&D), customer support, finance, and marketing.

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Peter Burke, warmly welcomed the decision by Proofpoint to establish their new international hub in Cork.

“This expansion is a testament to Ireland’s attractive business environment and our commitment to fostering innovation and growth in the cybersecurity sector.

The creation of over 250 jobs in the coming years is a significant boost for the region and highlights our ongoing efforts to support enterprise development and employment opportunities across the country. We look forward to seeing Proofpoint thrive and contribute to Ireland’s dynamic tech ecosystem."

Proofpoint currently has over 4,500 employees globally – with over one hundred existing employees in Cork.
