Nominations are now open for Cork Better Buildings Awards 2024, with the awards described as “an important acknowledgement of what has been done well in the city”.

The awards, organised by Cork Business Association (CBA) with the support of Cork City Council, recognise the efforts of developers, landlords and tenants to present properties throughout the city to their absolute best. As well as large scale projects, the judging panel will focus on maintenance and good housekeeping, such as cleaning, painting and planting.

Acknowledgement

Lord Mayor of Cork councillor Dan Boyle commended the aim of the awards.

“These awards are an important acknowledgement of what has been done well in the city,” he said.

“We are currently undergoing huge transformation and investment in areas such as Grand Parade Quarter and Morrison’s Island will deliver a new landscape for the city.

“That building owners and businesses are also investing in Cork speaks to the ambitions of the city and the bright prospects ahead.”

The awards are open to all city businesses from Ballincollig to Blarney, Glanmire to Douglas as well as the city centre.

There is no entry fee and nominations can be made by companies, organisations and notably by individuals, who believe a building reflects well on the city scape.

Positive Impact

“These awards are going from strength to strength and the evidence is there to show the positive impact well maintained properties have on the experience of people living, working or visiting the city centre,” CBA president, Aaron Mansworth, said.

“We can be quick to criticise what is wrong but it is equally, if not more, important to recognise and celebrate what is right.”
