The Unnatural Museum by Ana Maria Surdu opens on Thursday the 5th of September at 6pm, and runs from Friday the 6th of September until Friday, the 11th of October.
A new exhibition exploring the impact of plastics and reimagining how the natural world might be studied by future generations opens in Cork next week.
‘The Unnatural Museum’, created by Ana Maria Surdu, questions how plastics and microplastics, soil and organisms found in our water will be represented in the geology of the future.
To do this the collection mixes mass-produced man-made products with natural wonders.
The collection of environmental artwork will feature objects made from ceramic, glass and other materials found on West Cork beaches.
It will be labelled and archived mimicking the scientific methods of a Natural History Museum and the art pieces will be displayed in lit cabinets like Natural History Museum exhibits around the world.
The exhibition will run at Cork County Council’s LHQ gallery from September 6 until October 11.
