Cork Airport announces details of new Glasgow service

The new four times weekly Glasgow service from Cork Airport will commence in late October.

Cork Airport announced Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Emerald Airlines, will fly a new four-times-weekly service to Glasgow from October 27.

The new service to Glasgow will operate on Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday using an ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft, which is significantly more environmentally friendly than regional jets and other turboprops, emitting 40% less CO2.

Situated on the River Clyde, Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city by population and home to 1.8 million people in the wider metropolitan area.

The city is well-known for its vibrant nightlife, architecture, museums and many shopping centres.

Glasgow is also the gateway to some of Scotland’s most scenic regions including the Clyde Valley, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, and Ayrshire and Arran on the west coast of Scotland.

Bristol

The airline has also announced that it will operate additional services to Bristol, bringing the existing six-times weekly service up to a nine times weekly service.

The additional services to Bristol come in response to growing demand from passengers, with a second daily service on Friday and Sunday, along with a new Saturday service.

Niall McCarthy, managing director at Cork Airport, said: “We love the Aer Lingus Regional brand at Cork Airport. It now serves two vibrant UK cities, along with the eight destinations served by the Aer Lingus mainline brand.

“We are growing strongly, both inbound and outbound, from Cork Airport and more routes and greater connectivity are always welcome, proving that flying from Cork is the easiest flying experience in the country.”

Ian Lough,  head of commercial at Emerald Airlines, said: "We are delighted to be expanding our network from Cork Airport with the introduction of our new Glasgow service. We are equally pleased to announce the increase in flights between Cork and Bristol.

Commitment

“These enhancements underscore our commitment to providing our customers with more travel options and greater convenience. By expanding our offerings from Cork, we aim to meet the growing customer demand and ensure our passengers have even more opportunities when travelling from Cork Airport.”

Tara Finn, head of aviation business development and communications at Cork Airport said the airport will serve more than three million passengers this year and is ambitious to continue to expand the range of destinations and airlines flying from Cork.

“We plan to deliver double-digit growth again in 2025 and expect more announcements in the months ahead. Thank you to Aer Lingus Regional for this further vote of confidence in Cork Airport,” she said.
