Food and fun for families is on the menu at this year’s Cork on a Fork Festival, taking place next week across Cork city and county.

The festival, set to take place between August 14 and 18, will see more than 70 exclusive events, unique dining experiences, pop-up restaurants, chef collaborations, free cooking demonstrations, interactive workshops, food and drink pairings events, bite-sized talks, and plenty of family fun.

Run by Cork City Council, together with local businesses and producers, Cork on a Fork will showcase the region’s unique food culture and quality local produce.

During the festival, children will have the chance to discover new foods, be mini-master chefs, taste their way through the city on a children’s food trail, learn fun food facts, visit community gardens, and meet local producers.

Highlights for families to feast on include a pop-up gourmet cinema at the Marina Market on August 14 from 7pm; the Children’s Food Trail in Cork city centre on August 16 from 11.30am; and a sensory cooking class with the Cool Food School on August 16 at St Peter’s from 11am for children aged 3-7 years, and 12.30pm for children aged 7-12 years.

There will also be free cooking demos, and a play street and food market at Emmet Place on August 17 and 18 from 11am, featuring Ballymaloe Cooking School’s Rachel Allen and Harrison Sharpe from Elbow Lane.

Face painting with Let’s Play Cork and a pop-up local food market will also take place — all sponsored by Fáilte Ireland, Ireland’s Ancient East, and the Wild Atlantic Way.
