The Gas Networks Ireland Cork BHAA 5k road race returns for the eleventh year this year.
Due to ongoing works on the Marina, the 5k race will be held this year on the Blackrock - Mahon Greenway on Wednesday at 8pm.
The event starts at 8pm on the Greenway near the old Blackrock railway station and will head towards Rochestown, over the flyover and finish at the Blackrock Castle car park.
This year's race marks a significant step towards inclusivity, with the BHAA organisation in collaboration with Gas Networks Ireland introducing the first-ever visually impaired category.
Gas Networks Ireland’s Interconnector Operations Manager, Liam Murphy, who has organised this annual race for the past 11 years, said: “As part of our commitment to inclusivity, this year's race will be the first BHAA race to include a visually impaired category. We've always welcomed para-athletes to participate, and we hope to continue to offer an event that caters to everyone.”
Registration for the race opens at 6:30pm at Cork Boat Club, which will also host post-race refreshments and the prize giving ceremony.
Entry fees are €5 for registered runners and €10 for non-registered runners, the first 500 entries will receive a free Gas Networks Ireland long-sleeve dry-fit t-shirt.
