Grocery stores across Cork have been advised to remove implicated batches of popular crisps from their shelves due to the possible presence of rubber pieces.

Grocery stores across Cork have been advised to remove implicated batches of popular crisps from their shelves due to the possible presence of rubber pieces.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued a notice alerting the public to the recalled products, which includes batches of Spuddy’s crisps, available for purchase from the German retailer, Aldi.

The batches recalled include Spuddy’s Cheese & Onion Flavour Irish Crisps (6 x 25g pack) and Spuddy’s Irish Potato Crisps assorted flavours (24 x 25g pack), both with best-before dates of July 27.

Consumers have been advised by the FSAI to not eat the affected batches, with a recall notice due to be displayed at point of sale across all Aldi stores.

Speaking to The Echo, an Aldi Ireland spokesperson said:

“As a precautionary measure, Aldi is recalling these products as fragments of rubber may be present in packets from a production site which may have affected the Spuddy’s Cheese & Onion Flavour Irish Crisps 6 pack and Spuddy’s Irish Potato Crisps 24 pack.

“Customers are asked to return this product to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given.”

Further, several Tayto batches have also been earmarked by the FSAI for potential presence of rubber pieces, including Tayto Cheese & Onion 37g; Tayto Salt & Vinegar 37g; Tayto Cheese & Onion 6 pack (6x25g); Tayto Variety 6 pack (6x25g); Tayto Cheese & Onion 6 pack flashed €2.50 (6x25g); Tayto Variety 6 pack flashed €2.50 (6x25g); Tayto Cheese & Onion 10 pack flashed €3.75 (10x25g); Tayto Cheese & Onion 12 pack (12x25g).

All recalled Tayto products have a best-before date of August 21, August 22 or August 23.
