WHILE some may have regarded the performance by Bambie Thug of their Eurovision entry in Malmo almost two weeks ago as the anti-thesis of Christmas, the Macroom artist is preparing to record a festive song and has launched an appeal on social media to find a symphony orchestra for the performance.
The appeal was posted on Bambie Thug’s ‘X’ profile this week and it reads as follows:
“I know it’s ages away but this year I need a symphony orchestra to revamp my Christmas banger ‘Merry Christmas Baby’ with me,” they said. “I won’t rest until it is reality.”
A recording of the song by Bambie already exists on YouTube after a video was recorded at the BBC Maida Vale Studios before Christmas 2022.
For those who may be tentative about a screeching ‘Ouija Pop’ number, it’s as far as from that as can be imagined and features the singer being accompanied by a piano as they sing a festive and slightly plaintive love song.
The singer has garnered five million views for their Eurovision performance of ‘Doomsday Blue’ since the Grand Final in Malmo on May 11 and the song surpassed 12m streams on Spotify.
Bambie Thug, who was banned from wearing Ogham writing which said ‘Saoirse Don Phalaistín’ before performing at the Grand Final, expressed their satisfaction at Ireland’s announcement to recognise Palestine as a state in a post on Wednesday.
“Today my beautiful country finally officially recognises the state of Palestine,” they posted.
