CORK’s Roy Keane has paid a touching tribute to his “beautiful and loyal” dog following the passing of his family’s beloved pet.

In a series of photos shared on Instagram, the former Irish international and Manchester United player thanked the German Shephard, Jet, who was pictured with Keane, and his children, as well as shown in a short video playing in the snow.

"Thanks Jet for being so beautiful and loyal to our family. We will miss you,” he said.

Jet, a recognised member of the Keane family, has previously starred in a number of appearances alongside Keane, including a recent campaign for the Adidas Spezial collection, where Keane discussed retiring from his professional career.

Former Manchester United colleagues David Beckham and Gary Neville commented on the post sharing their condolences with Keane and his family.

“The last picture is amazing… Sorry for your loss Roy,” said Beckham, while Neville shared a single red heart emoji.

Dog’s Trust Ireland also joined the many well-wishers in Keane’s comment section, offering advice and useful resources for the family which can be found on their website.

“We are so sorry for your loss Roy. Thinking of you and your family at this really sad time. We have some resources on our website which you may find useful: Dogstrust.ie/grief,” they said.

The family pet also featured in an episode of The Overlap, the YouTube channel hosted by Gary Neville, Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott, and Ian Wright, which aired in 2021, where Keane and Neville take a walk around a park discussing his time in football and opening up about his personal life.
