IRELAND’S largest celebration of maritime culture, heritage and family fun activities is set to return to Cork from June 1 to June 10.

Cork Harbour Festival will highlight Cork’s greatest natural amenities — Cork Harbour and the River Lee — with a festival programme of events throughout the city and county.

This year’s festival offers events in locations including Myrtleville, Cobh, Crosshaven, Whitegate, Ringaskiddy, Fountainstown, Spike Island, East Ferry, Monkstown, and city locations such as Marina Park, Cork City Marina, Lee Fields, Blackrock, Crawford Art Gallery, Lapp’s Quay and Nano Nagle Place.

The festival highlights Cork’s maritime history, cultural experiences and heritage. The event includes water sports, talks, walks, storytelling, exhibitions, orienteering, family activities, theatre experiences, and poetry.

The flagship event Ocean to City — An Rás Mór — Ireland’s very own long-distance rowing race attracting hundreds of participants from all over the world, will take place on Saturday, June 8.

“Meitheal Mara are delighted to bring you yet another amazing fun-filled programme of events for this year’s Cork Harbour Festival, now in its 10th year,” festival manager, Geri Murphy, said. “With over 50 event partners in Cork City and County, that never fails to deliver an impressive array of over 80 interactive, educational and enjoyable events and activities on both land and water.

“We can’t wait to welcome thousands of visitors from local, national and international destinations to come and delve into all the maritime fun that this festival has to offer, and explore the awe and beauty of Cork this June. Bain taitneamh as.”

Lord Mayor of Cork City Councillor Kieran McCarthy and Mayor of the County of Cork Councillor Frank O’Flynn said they are “delighted” that Cork City Council and Cork County Council are major sponsors of the festival.

“To everyone with an interest in all things riverine and maritime, go and engage whether as a participant or a spectator with the amazing Cork Harbour Festival,” Mr McCarthy said.

Mr O’Flynn described the festival as one which “celebrates our rich maritime heritage” and offers unforgettable experiences for all involved.
