Gardaí issue traffic advice ahead of Cork and Clare game 

Gardaí have issued traffic advice to people attending the Munster senior hurling match between Cork and Clare tomorrow. 

A crowd of 35,000 is expected at the game at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday at 2pm.

Gardaí are advising that road closures will be in place, and they are requesting that fans park in city centre car parks and walk to the stadium.

There is no dedicated parking at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, but they say car parks in the city centre are open and within easy walking distance of the stadium. 

Gardaí have suggested attendees utilise public or shared transport to get to the game where possible.

The 202 and 212 bus routes serve SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, and a free shuttle bus service starts at 12pm stationed opposite Goldbergs Bar on Victoria Road, running every 20 minutes to and from the stadium until 90 minutes after full-time.

Gardaí also advised that pedestrians will be given priority after the match, and vehicles will be held for pedestrian safety.

Road closures

From 9am, parts of Monahan Road and Maryville will be closed: Ardfoyle/Park Avenue, Blackrock Road/Maryville, Monahan’s Road/Link Road and Centre Park Road/Link Road.

From 11am, the following routes will close: Boreenmanna Rd/ Churchyard Lane, Blackrock Rd/Churchyard Lane, Boreenmanna Rd/Crab Lane and Blackrock Rd/Crab Lane (with access for residents only).

All roads will reopen at approximately 5pm.

Parking

Parking will be available in city centre car parks, and gardaí have warned people not to block entrances to housing estates, business premises or parks, block or park on foot-paths, park in disabled spaces or bus stops or park in an area which may restrict access for emergency services.

The drop off area for taxis is on Victoria Road, just before Marina Walk, and all other large public service vehicles are to set down and pick up on the Boreenmanna Road, near the Maxol filling station.

Coaches and buses are advised to park on the Boreenmanna Road faced for the South City Link Road for after-match priority.
